Most of the women who attend our clinic do not have breast cancer but have concerns about
their breasts because of breast pain, breast lumps, nipple discharge or a family history of
breast cancer. Investigation of these lumps usually proves to be non-cancerous.
Some of the symptoms that require review by a General Practitioner and referral to a
Specialist Breast Surgeon are:

  • A lump
  • Lumpiness
  • Any change in the shape of the breast or dimpling of the skin
  • An area that feels different from the rest
  • Discharge from a nipple
  • A pulling in of the nipple (inverted nipple)
  • Breast pain

Hormone Replacement Therapy And Your Breasts

There are many issues relating to the use of hormone replacement therapy. Discussion of overall risks and benefits is best done with your regular GP or gynaecologist. We are able to assist with advice on how HRT may affect your breasts and with recommendations on appropriate monitoring. A particularly challenging area is the management of menopausal symptoms in women who have had breast cancer and treatment options need to take into account individual medical and personal factors.

    Breast Reconstruction

The Breast Centre is able to provide advice and referral to leading Plastic Surgeons for breast reconstruction.
