Gynecomastia (swelling of the breast tissue) is the term given to the most common type of male breast problem. This often occurs because of hormonal changes, a variety of medical conditions and drug treatments or at puberty. This can be an embarrassing problem for some men and can be treated by surgical excision of the excess breast tissue.

Men can also get breast cancer, although rare. A lump, inverted nipple, bleeding from the nipple, tethering of the
skin, pain or any other abnormality should be investigated by a Specialist Breast Surgeon. Treatment is often the
same as for women, involving surgical excision, and medical management.
